Survey on Abortion. Opinions welcome!?

I am trying not to be biased any way possible in this survey, it's for my english class.

In 2007, the first thing Obama said he would do is sign the FOCA act. Although the Partial-birth abortion ban 2003 is in effect, FOCA could overturn every restriction on abortion if it檚 signed.

FOCA:

+ Partial birth abortions would be legal and have no limitations.

+ All U.S. tax payers would be funding abortions.

+ Parental notification will no longer be required.

+ Eliminates every restriction on abortion laws today.

1)Under which circumstances is an abortion okay in your opinion?

2)Will the Freedom of Choice Act do more harm or good in this country?

3)A fetus isn檛 fully developed until after 37 weeks, both pro-life and choice argue over when the start of human life is. If the case were at the earliest point at which the fetus is viable outside the womb, do you believe that an unborn child is a human person with human rights?

4)In your opinion should parental consent normally be required for girls under 16 to be having an abortion why or why not?

5)Partial birth abortion is a method of late-term abortion after 20 weeks of pregnancy which was banned in the United States in 2003. It involves aborting the unborn child before full delivery is completed. Other sources say that it is a form of infanticide, the procedure involves labor being induced, and then the fetus?brain is removed while still in the womb. It is still a women檚 right to choose, but do you believe there should be borders and circumstances?

- Which raises another question, should it be legalized.

6)What do you like or dislike about the Freedom of Choice act, is there anything you want to change or add?

7) This is a complicated issue. I don't know how to ask it. But Scott Peterson murdered his pregnant wife and was charged with two murders. The wife and fetus. FOCA would contradict that case in which a fetus can be aborted when it's viable outside the womb and be ok. It's a sticky situation, but should there be a border? what do you think of this situation? (sorry I don't know how to word this Q)

Abortion is never right. If you don't want to keep the baby there are plenty of people who will take it so give it up for adoption.Survey on Abortion. Opinions welcome!?

1)Under which circumstances is an abortion okay in your opinion?

Everyone's situation is different and what might be right for one person could be wrong for another. I'm not sure I could ever have one. I know of people who have aborted babies that were the result of a rape and had a friend who was medically advised to abort due to extreme birth defects. Not sure what I'd do in either situation.

2)Will the Freedom of Choice Act do more harm or good in this country?

I'd like to think that some good would come of it. Fewer babies would be born to unsafe conditions and women wouldn't have to resort to alternative and unsafe methods to end an unwanted pregnancy.

3)A fetus isn檛 fully developed until after 37 weeks, both pro-life and choice argue over when the start of human life is. If the case were at the earliest point at which the fetus is viable outside the womb, do you believe that an unborn child is a human person with human rights?

This is a question I can't answer. There are too many philisophical and medical points to argue here. I know with both of my children I didn't fully grasp that I'd made life until about a week after they were born.

4)In your opinion should parental consent normally be required for girls under 16 to be having an abortion why or why not?

Depends on the situation. Some teenagers simply do not have a support system at home. In a perfect world a teen would be able to go to their parents and get love, support and advice on the subject, but often this simply isn't the case.

I think there should be a cutoff point where any pregnancy past a certain number of weeks can't be aborted, unless medically neccessary. That point should be somewhere around the time a child could survive a premature delivery.

1)Under which circumstances is an abortion okay in your opinion?

I do not believe abortion is ever okay. I have friends and family who made that decision when they got pregnant young and were scared - while I don't judge them for it - I watched them go through the horror of having to live with their decision and any one of them today will tell you not to ever get an abortion. It wasn't as easy a decision as Planned Parenthood and other pro-abortion groups make it sound - it was painful and horrible for them, both physically and emotionally - and left deep wounds for years.

2)Will the Freedom of Choice Act do more harm or good in this country?

I think it will do much more harm. The sad thing about the Freedom of Choice Act is that it does not take into consideration the child's rights. It excuses away abortion by saying the child is not really alive, not viable. I am now 34 weeks pregnant and my daughter is kicking and hiccuping and her heart is beating away - she is very much alive - and in my belief was a child deserving of the chance to live at the moment of conception. I can't see anything redeemable about this Act.

3)A fetus is not fully developed until after 37 weeks, both pro-life and choice argue over when the start of human life is. If the case were at the earliest point at which the fetus is viable outside the womb, do you believe that an unborn child is a human person with human rights?

Yes - always

4)In your opinion should parental consent normally be required for girls under 16 to be having an abortion why or why not?

Absolutely. Children under 18 can't live on their own, can't sign up for school, can't have a medical procedure and many other things without the parent's consent. I think it's absolutely appalling that this decision should be made alone. No one should decide something like this alone. It's an incredibly hard decision and the ramifications emotionally following the choice to have an abortion are generally very intense emotions and I would never want my child to go through that alone. I would want my children to know they can always come to me and we will work things out together. I will always love them, no matter what. They are not emotionally mature enough to make that kind of life altering decision on their own.

This is murder, plain and simple. There is no way to excuse this procedure.

- Which raises another question, should it be legalized.

absolutely not

6)What do you like or dislike about the Freedom of Choice act, is there anything you want to change or add?

I don't like any Act that legalizes abortion, and I don't like that my tax dollars may be any part of paying for it. The entire Act is awful and should be thrown out.

7) This is a complicated issue. I don't know how to ask it. But Scott Peterson murdered his pregnant wife and was charged with two murders. The wife and fetus. This case just amazed me because it seemed to prove that the fetus was indeed a child deserving of rights if it was considered a double murder. I agree that it should have been a double murder because I believe that baby is a gift from God and its life should mean something - it shouldn't be something so easy to throw away. It just saddens me so much.

8) Comments:

Psalm 139 talks in detail about how the Lord formed us in our Mother's womb. How we are fearfully and wonderfully made. How all the days ordained for us were written and known by God before one of them came to be. I believe that life is precious - that even when terrible things happen to bring about the pregnancy - that child is not ever to blame and should not be murdered as if it were the guilty party. If it is too difficult to keep the baby, there are so many loving couples out there who can't have children of their own. Give that child the chance to live. Who are we to take that away from them?
