How to play low quality youtube videos?

I live in a country where we get low internet speeds. I have 512 kbps.

I used to watch videos on youtube all the time, but now something changed. The videos play on hig quality, not HD, but the quality is high and it takes ages to load.

I use DownloadHelper plugin for Firefox and get the downloads for the stream, it shows several quality of downloads, the normal one, HQ18, HQ32, etc. Now when I download the normal one, the size is small and the video is low quality.

How do I get youtube to play that by default (or not) when I use the website?How to play low quality youtube videos?
OK, the procedure is a bit lengthy, but here's how to do it:

Install the Firefox Greasemonkey extension:

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox

Restart Firefox.

Now go to this page:

http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/4121

Click on install. Allow it to install.

Next right-click on the small monkey icon on the statusbar of Firefox. Click on %26quot;manage user scripts%26quot;. Select the script name %26quot;Youtube HQ blah blah...%26quot; on the left and click on %26quot;edit%26quot; at the bottom.

In the notepad window that opens, you need to change a few lines. You'll see something like:

var forceLowQuality=false;

var resize720p=true;

var useHD=true;

change the %26quot;false%26quot; in the first line to %26quot;true%26quot;. Change %26quot;true%26quot; in the next two lines to %26quot;false%26quot;.

Click on File menu -%26gt; save. Close the notepad window. Now it should do the trick. You may have to disable and re-enable greasemonkey once before it starts working. For that, click on the greasemonkey icon, then click on it again. After you follow this, you won't have to do anything again.
